This has been a really good week for small freeware utils. I added two (yes, two) to my repository.
First, Colibri, is a slick text based application launcher. Since I’m a heave “Win + R” user I was looking for something like this for a long time. By pressing a hotkey and typing first few word of the program you want to start lest you quickly launch any application/document in your folders. It even lets you find Control Panel applets and other things like Volume Control. Not nearly slick as Quicksilver on OS X, but very slick by Windows standards. Give it a try…
Found via excellent Download Squad (they are having a run of similar apps launching utils this week)

And I think I finally found a decent free screenshot taking app I was looking for for some time now. I gave Cropper couple of chances but it kept behaving strangely. I came across Windows Snapshop Maker and I think this could be it. It does what other similar utils do and it’s fast and small. A fancy feature is that it can automatically and a shadow, colorize or even rotate your screenshot. Sweet.

Speaking of HanselMinutes… In third show Scott mentioned ZipGenius. My coworker Dane mention it to me couple of months ago and I was using it for couple of weeks now. It’s a great freeware archiver that supports all formats that you will ever need. I was a happy user of PowerArchiver for many years but than they turned shareware. I was running IzArc but ZipGenius looks and feels better. It is Italian, which is usually not a good thing when it comes to software. But there is nothing I could tell against ZipGenius. It just works.
